A Kerala Family Trip Wrapped in Love and Togetherness
An emotional ride through the beaches, backwaters, jungles, and foggy hills of Kerala in November 2025.
As is often said, great travel experiences have everything to do with the people accompanying you and not necessarily the places they visit. Such was the case with this one! In the span of just six days, I could take my time, hold on to my baby’s tiny hand a little more, spend some lovely time with my husband, and create sweet memories, all in the beautiful setting of God’s Own Country. This Kerala family trip turned out to be so much more than a holiday — it became a collection of moments we will cherish for years to come.

Day 1–2: Kovalam – Where the Sea Welcomes Us Home
Our journey began at the wonderful Kovalam beaches, which made me feel as though the sea itself was telling us, “Hey! You have arrived!” Our stay in the cozy Standard Sea-Facing A/C rooms at Soma Palm Shore provided an amazing experience, especially hearing the sounds of the sea in the mornings.
The first two days of our vacation were just about spending time with each other:
- Daily sunset walks around Lighthouse Beach, during which my child chased the waves.
- Sweet seafood dinners, enjoying ourselves while eating from the same plate as a family.
Kovalam gently reminded me to breathe, slow down, and simply be a family.
Day 3: Alleppey – Floating into Togetherness
The very first thought that occurred to me while boarding the houseboat was how much it had transformed over the years. I still recall how we were here on our honeymoon 13 years ago. But if I were to pick out just one particular moment when my soul was spellbound by the magic of Alleppey, it would definitely be our stay in the Alleppey backwaters. Boarding our cozy and luxurious Deluxe A/C 2-Bedroom Houseboat, we found ourselves transported to a different world altogether — a timeless and spaceless one.
With all meals served to us on board, we indulged in traditional Keralite food: fish curry, soft appams, and lots of chai, while watching the world pass us by:
- A sea of emerald-green rice fields.
- My husband and I enjoying a sunset together while our son pointed out every bird that flew past us.
- My in-laws sitting comfortably on the deck and enjoying the peace.
As I slept to the gentle rocking of the water, I found myself remembering my loved ones: my parents, who passed away recently, and wondering that, had they been around, I would have brought them here. This is something I will treasure for the rest of my life.
Day 4: Thekkady – A Little Adventure in Spice Country
Next, we made our way to the hills of Thekkady, home to the popular Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and the aromatic spices of Kerala.
Our comfortable stay at Holiday Vista in Standard Gold accommodation gave us a chance to experience something different:
- Touring the spice gardens and seeing how spices like cardamom, pepper, and cinnamon grow.
- Picking fresh spices to take a little bit of Kerala home with me.
It was the perfect little dose of adventure for the whole family, and added a lovely contrast to our Kerala family trip.
Day 5–6: Munnar — Where the Mountains Held Us Close
The best was yet to come! Munnar was an experience of endless green tea gardens surrounded by soft, flowing fog. Our two-night stay at Trivers Resort (Deluxe A/C Rooms) made us feel like we were staying in a quiet retreat in the mountains.
The last two days were leisurely and filled with love:
- Leisurely drives around countless tea plantations that looked like they were glowing.
- Early mornings wrapped in blankets, sipping Munnar tea.
- Family snapshots at every viewpoint.
- Warm evenings filled with conversation, laughter, and togetherness.
Munnar wasn’t just where our journey ended; it was the perfect place to say goodbye.
Final Thoughts – Words from the Heart
From the golden sands of Kovalam to the romantic backwaters of Alleppey, from the fragrant spice country of Thekkady to the mystical mountains of Munnar, Kerala gave us not just spectacular sights, but so much more.
It gave me time with my husband, my baby’s first smiles, and precious moments with my family that will forever be cherished memories. This was more than just a vacation. It was a chance to feel the simple joy of being together. Our Kerala family trip gave us exactly that — time, love, laughter, and memories that will stay with us long after the journey ended.
